Formula 1 Thread

So its 1 month to the start of the 2006 Formula 1 season.

Who are your tips to win the drivers and constructors championship.

My contenders for the Constructors are Renault, Honda and Ferrari. Mclaren are in a mess right now, they will struggle IMO.

For the drivers my contenders are Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher.

Cant wait....

Well, the old F1.

I start the season in style by visiting Albert Park for at least two, sometimes three, and not too often all four days of the Grand Prix.

Last season wasn't a good one for my beloved Ferrari and Michael Schumacher. Schuey only won the one race, but I honestly expect that he can come back and win the drivers championship this year...or at least challenge Fernando Alonso. We've signed Felipe Massa in the off-season to cover for Rubens. Rubens was everything you wanted in a second driver, but Ferrari should've looked to Giancarlo Fisichella.

BAR have a very good team this year, and I hope over at Williams Mark Webber can do something. Forever talked of as F1's next big thing- at least in Australia- he's now nearly 30! Times running out, Mark!

My tips

Drivers Championship: Fernando Alonso or Michael Schumacher
Constructors Championship: Anyone's between BAR, Renault and Ferrari

Mark Webber: Will do nothing and will find himself driving V8's in 2007.

Paoli69 dont forget BAR Honda name has changed to Honda Racing due to Honda buying out the team.

Honda has one of the strongest drivers line up.

Williams will struggle IMO, if Mark Webber screws up this year im afraid that might be it for him . His under alot of pressure to perform well and i really think his in trouble.

Cant wait for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Renault will probably start as favourites.

Honda will be aiming for podium finishes, a win would be nice but very unlikely.

I'm in agreement with what most of you have said...Mclaren have no idea with regards to the engine (ignorant of the flashy paint job!) The Mp4-194712375 seems to blow up every other lap now-a-days and I can see them doing well when the engine is blowing but they will be far to inconsistent.

Schumacher/Alonso for the drivers

Ferrari/Renault for the constructors. (ferrari fan btw)

After three races Fernando Alonso is storming away and has double the amount of points as his closest rival and team mate Giancarlo Fisichella with 28.
Code:
1 Fernando Alonso Renault 28
2 Giancarlo Fisichella Renault 14
3 Kimi Raikkonen McLaren-Mercedes 14
4 Michael Schumacher Ferrari 11
5 Jenson Button Honda 11
Schumacher has had a poor start to the season much like last year. We seem to have a nice battle from second place down but I don't think we will see another name at the top of the board for the rest of the season now.

The battle will be between Alonso and Raikkonen again this year. A lot depends on how many miles the McLaren can stay together for. If it's as flimsy as last year's Alonso will win the title without too much trouble.

If Button can fix his tyre problemm, where Honda has been finding it difficult to warm their tyres to find grip. I'm sure Jenson Button can win races and be a title contender.

Button's had 100 races to get things right and he still can not stay at the front of the grid for a race. How can we call him a title contender if he can't win races?
