| I've met Graham Gooch a fair few times as he lived in the town where I come from. In fact, my brother showed his two daughters round his school when they were about to start there for 6th form. Nasser Hussain also lived locally and I bumped into him a couple of times. Ross Kemp, once of Eastenders also lived locally and gave me the 'Grant Mitchell Stare' when I saw him and pointed at him. I also remember a time at the County Ground in Chelmsford after a match between Essex and Derbyshire where Dominic Cork was stuck in traffic with his window down. I accosted Cork and Paul Aldred who was also in the car. They both signed my programme and we had a brief chat, but then the traffic started moving and he left with my pen lid! Latterly, at university, I met a lot of indie and rock groups due to being appointed as Head of Music at the radio station. I interviewed such luminaries as the Doves, Bluetones, Space, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Wannadies, Gomez and several more that I can't remember. It has also given me a useful knack of blagging free entry to gigs. After moving to Southampton, I met quite a few Hampshire cricketers through seeing matches at the Rose Bowl and through cricket coaching. I met Billy Taylor a few times through coaching bumped into Robin Smith a few times as well. |

| I did some cricket commentary for one of those phone lines in 2000 and i was working in the same part of the ground as the Talksport team at the Oval test so i met Geoff Boycott,Chris Cowdrey,Jack Bannister and Jo King.Boycott was hilarious and had a great time winding up Cowdrey's son. Had a real shock when i went to the loo at Lords as the door was held open for me by Ian Botham but when i left the loo i walked into Viv Richards who was just behind the door.He apologised to me which i found amusing. All these cricketing gods and i was up close to them. Other than that i was lucky enough to be mascot at a Shrewsbury match when we played Liverpool so i met the likes of Dalglish,Hansen and Rush.Wasn't impressed though as i have never liked Liverpool. At Edgbaston in 1997 there was a rain break and i went for a walk round the ground and bumped into Mark Waugh,we nearly knocked each other over and when he was injured a few days later i tried to claim it was down to me bumping into him I think i have been very lucky,i guess it helps having a parent who works in the media. |

| Not many megastars I'm afraid - Henry Blofeld came and did commentary on a game that Cherstey played on midsummers day (started at dawn and finished at 9am!). It was filmed and shown on SouthEast today or something. He was really good company and joined us at the local pub for breakfast after the game! I met Michael Holding briefly at the Rose Bowl, during a rained off one dayer that Sky were covering. He was sheltering from the rain under the commentary box when I dashed under to protect my chips from the rain. I didn't see him at first, and he scared the sh*t out of me when he said hello! All I sould think of was to offer him a chip (he took two!) and to ask him who he currently enjoyed watching on Sky, and he replied "Helen Chamberlain, hur hur hur!" and walked off with a cheery wave. I used to work in Events and publicity, and one of the girls I fancied at the company used to look after Gavin Hastings. I met him a few times and he was a really nice guy - best ever was seeing him and his brother Scott (equally large) being ferried back to the office from Heathrow in this girl's VW Polo - and trying to get out of the back of it, elegantly, in front of the press!
