Commonwealth Games

Does anybody care?

Two of the main attractions have pulled out Ian Thorpe is injured and Paula Radcliffe has pulled out as it doesn't earn her any money.

No doubt Australia will top the medals table by a long way but it is all a bit of a nothing event for me.

The opening ceremony was at the MCG. A flying tram flying over 81,000 people...Hmmm...

I'm in the same camp as most. Most of the top athletes don't go because it's also the European champs this season.

I'm working there...

On $22 an hour I might add, not bad for one as young as me...

Though apart from the Rugby 7's and the Athletics I have no interest. Just finished watching the heats of the 400m freestyle on the telly where a Guernsey-ite flew in with the wonderful time of 4minutes 53seconds.

If Zimbabwe were there I'd have more of an interest. Kirsty Coventry, the swimmer, would probably win between 4-6 gold medals and they've also got a few good track athletes.

Yes. Any chance to get one over the English and the New Zealanders on the sporting field is always worthwhile.

She's not related to Charles Coventry is she?

I must sya, I'm not massively interested in the games as a whole, but I watched the opening ceremony and that was brilliant!

Bloody hell!... (Ohhh! my appologies to our English Freinds for my disgracfull language)

Not a bad way to spend the School Holidays though, I get paid $12.8 an hour to stack shelves (mind you up here I have to beat them off with a stick in order to get any uni work done. Amazing that they're about 500 meters from a university and yet can't find anybody to work for them...)

Yes the games are a farce, watching Nigeria getting pommled in the Table Tennis is'nt exactly my idea of "edge of your seat viewing".
