Sir Richard Branson starts movement to keep ashes in Australia

Sir Richard Branson is in the process of rallying a movement to keep the "Ashes Urn" in Australia.
Sir Richard says considering the extent of this ashes series defeat, that the urn does not deserve to be taken back to England.
He allready has the support of Ian Botham and 20 million Australians.

So all he, Botham and the 20 million Australians have to overcome is the small matter of the Urn being a private gift to the MCC which remains their property. Forget it! It will be back at Lord's on schedule once the tour has been completed.

If, for arguements sake, it was to stay in Australia, then where would it stay? If it stays with the winning country, then it then live in the Sheffield shield winning state - Queensland.

Wo'nt happen, though it would certainly make an Ashes win that little bit more special for the winning team.

As to Branson, a cynic would say he is just dirty that the urn is not flying with Virgin.

Umm.... The Urn is flying with Virgin, hence why he made the statement.

The actual physical possession of the urn is not important IMHO.
It was a gift, let the stuffy old gentlemen keep it.

The actual trophy is amusing.
Do you remember when you first learnt what their actual size was?
I do.I laughed.

Anyway trying to get something the English have and want to keep is next to impossible.
Just ask the Greeks and Egyptians.
