The real Mr Cricket

I have absolutely no idea how Michael Hussey acquired the outrageously arrogant nom de plume, 'Mr Cricket', but surely he has lost the title and handed it on to Paul Collingwood.

Can I be the first one here to press for Sir Paul Collingwood to be from this moment on referred to as the 'The real Mr Cricket'.

Judging by what happened after the MBE handouts after the narrow 2005 Ashes win, there can be a no better way of relegating Collingwood's career to the dustbin of cricketing history.

I believe the phrase was coined while he was playing county cricket, though i forget who said it or when. It was coined based of his work ethic, as opposed to ability. He was always early to training, last to leave, extra private training sessions and basically went a little overboard in his approach to training.

I think he is a little embarrased with the term, but he is stuck with it now.

I did think that might be the case, but was not sure and so posted just in case. Collingwood, like Hoggard and now Alistair Cook, is an unassuming guy and can do his stuff without any OTT accolades. I like that sort of players who keep a low profile but have strong characters.
