Hello from a new member

Hi! I just joined these forums. I am an Indian living and working in the UK. I have been a cricket fan for over 40 years. Used to play a bit myself in my younger days - I was a useful off-spinner at school. I am looking forward to many interesting excahnages here.

I like the screen name, Nosty! I once endeavored to read the Joseph Conrad masterpiece, Nostromo, but got stuck on chapter 7 (i think) which was both heavy going and 100 pages long.

I think Nostromo was also the name of the space-ship in Alien.

Several references to popular culture in that name!

Yes Andy the name made me think of Sigourney Weaver in vest and pants.

I thank our new member for giving me that vision.

Thanks everyone. Actually, I owe tribute to the choice of my screen name to both sources you mention above. I am intrigued by Joseph Conrad's character in the book; and Alien is one of my all time favourite Sci-fi/horror films.

Similar tastes to me then, Nosty. If only I had the time to finish the book, and Alien is probably the definite horror film to my mind - especially some excellent acting from Ian Holm.

Anyway, back to the cricket...

OK, cricket it is then.....or I should say not cricket that Ian Holm did not win the Best Supporting Actor in the 1979 Oscars for his excellent portrayal of 'Ash' in Alien.
