Arise Sir Ian Botham

I'm not going to bore you with endless text that harps on about the great man.

Basically I have started a campaign to get him Knighted.

I will be lobbying the government with a petition of support.

This petition needs at least 500 signatures before it will be taken seriously.

Please take a few seconds out of your time to add your name to the petition.

Thanks for your time and here is the link one more time

You can also write to the Cabinet Office to nominate him for a gong. I've done so in an effort to ensure that the contributions of Richie Benaud to the sport are not forgotten, but sadly nothing came of it before he retired from UK broadcasting. Still, you never know ...

But I thought he was already? I clearly heard Holding once addressing him as "Sir Ian"; was it in jest then?

To whom should one apply if one would prefer to see him deported?

Hopefully, yes.

Nothing more than Jamaican irony, I'm sure.

I would say your right - Stuart Law left Australia's shore for the UK and 3/4 years later Australia nominated him on Australia Day for what he contributed to Australian sport.

So I could see Richie being recognised in a few years time in the same way.

I totally agree with the call for Richie Benaud. A great in all areas of the sport (though he was a bit rubbish playing in England)..........

Just to clarify a point. If you use the link below to add your weight to my campaign the petition is run by a reputable company who DO NOT use your e-mail address for any wrong doings.

Today I received an e-mail from the Leukemia Reseach people who have given me the tumbs up!

Hold on, maybe I misunderstood Holding's accent when I thought he said "Sir Ian". After all, we are talking aboit Beefy; maybe what Holding really said was "Sirloin"

Only the Americans, I think. They'll trump up a charge and claim him under the extradition arrangements whereby they don't even have to present any evidence in a UK court. Other than that, I think there is generally a presumption against forcing citizens out of the country - as there jolly well should be.
