What event would you love to see?

The World Cup starts tomorrow but it isn't floating my boat,i am currently like a kid on christmas eve about the Cheltenham Festival that starts tomorrow and i would give anything to be there on any of the 4 days.I would even go as far to say if i had the opportunity of 4 days at Cheltenham or 6 weeks at the World Cup i would go for Cheltenham every time,NO CONTEST.

I love Cheltenham and rate it alongside the Ryder Cup and the Ashes as my top sporting events, the National is another but that is just 1 day. What events get you excited?

For the record, get on Fair Along in the 2.35 tomorrow.

I'd rather avoid any event staged in a stadium or arena and promoted as "entertainment": I'd rather play (at any level) than watch... and if I can't play I'd rather judge, or marshall, or in some other way have a reason for being there that went beyond "spectating" - a grossly over-rated past-time!

Marshalling at the TT would have been fun before it became so mainstream... but I'd settle for doing what a friend of mine has been doing for years: marshalling in a landrover on the RAC Rally forest stages... preferably on a viscous stretch that would almost certainly see us pulling very expensive cars (or the remains of them) out of trees (ideally against the clock and in the hope of getting the vehicle limping onwards asap).

I'd be more interested in being a gate judge at a minor canoe/kayak slalom than I would be in a day out at Lords or in the World Cup final!

I have been to Cheltenham years ago, and i used to support a horse called Nightnurse who was thee best ever hurdler - I think it was 4-1 against Nightnurse when I had a tenner bet.

Well I am not keen at all on one day cricket, but I would take the Worls Cup final before Cheltenham - after the Gold cup and the Champion Hurdle - the rest is just higher class chaff IMO.

The Ryder Cup outside cricket is my favourite event, it has improved since the Yank's have lost their monopoly of winning that Trophy, the only good thing to come out of the EU - is the European golfers able to line up with the Brit's and Irish.

I used to love Show jumping - in particular indoor events, and when David broom and Sportsman and Philco (his main horses at the time) were at their best.
Yes when David Broom, Eddie Macken and Harvey Smith were at their best, show jumping took some beating as a spectator sport.

Personally, I don't like any kind of Equestrian "sport" and so if the Cricket World Cup was not on, I would have watched some of my old DVDs rather than Cheltenham.

Ryder Cup for me...or a Lions tour. In fact both of those!!! I would also like a Wimbledon final.

Up till this year it was the boxing day Test at the MCG. Was lucky to be at the last world cup in South Africa..and saw a few games of the previous world cup

in 1999 my flat mate forgot to tell me he had a spare ticket to the world cup final (Pakistan v Australia at Lords)!! Consequently it was sent back!! I still speak to him, but one day I will get my revenge!!
