New season almost upon us

The new club season is almost here! We had our first intra club practise match yesterday, with our season starting next week.

Its hard work playing on grass after playing for the last couple of months indoors, i mean how slow are the wickets .

At least I get the next 20 odd saturdays DIY free .

At long last, that's all that I can say!

First net this evening, and my season starts in a fortnight... let's see just how out of touch I could possibly after a winter of couch-potatoing!

Yes!!!
Can't wait for this season, I actually joined a gym with an aim to improve my fitness for the summer.

Got to get all new equipment though.

I thought about going to the gym but....

Though i have started going for jogs on my luch hour. I was sick of my skipper saying "well batted, you turned that 70,80,90 into a 30,40,50...."

In the olden days (before bowling restrictions) I used to be able to bowl 15-20 overs straight through, now i can barely bowl my allocation of 10 without feeling like i've died (usually after 6 overs).

I do enjoy bowling in the nets... today, just for a laugh, everyone decided to bowl like Lasith Malinga.

Problem was, when I went into the nets for a bat, I realised how much quicker everyone else was bowling with that action... and I have several bruises (including a pretty big one just above the thigh pad ) to prove it.

I'm not looking forward to waking up tomorrow morning!

Its funny, or perhaps not so funny, that you always get hit just above/below/to the left/right of your thigh pad .

I can barely move after yesterday and we have nets on Tues .

I think my cricketing days are over, after 2 operations on my knee already i am now having more trouble with it so i would be a liability in the field and with 2 young kids i wouldn't want to knacker myself up for future years.I guess bowls will take priority now.

My season should have started yesterday but a torn hamstring a fortnight ago (playing 5-a-side football) put paid to that. I have to put up with not playing until May.

Half our club are liabilities in the field! Seriously though, you have to look after yourself with kids around.
