Do you play cricket and if so what club and what grade do you play in?

I thought it was time that we all got to know each other a little better, oh my I sound like a pedo in a chat room. Oh No.... Just wondering which members at this forum play cricket and if so what sort of standard, or level are they playing in. Also how many years have you played for and how did you start playing?

I played cricket for several years while at school - both for the school team as well as a local junior club in my hometown Bangalore in India - but had to give-up completely when I joined medicine. My prowess was as a good off-spin bowler; I batted low down, usually at 9 or 10 and tried to throw the bat around a bit, not very successfully.

I played at school and for a side for 15 years but have had to pack in now as after 2 ops on my knee i still have trouble with it so there isn't much point playing in such discomfort.

Hurts today again after playing bowls last night.

I played Hutt Valley Grade 2B last year (I think that's about division 6 in Wellington)

I joined as a batsman, but the highlight of my last season was 19 consecutive overs in one match to take 5 wickets for 49. I bowl 'variable' - medium/medium-slow, varying the speed and position of release on the crease; most of my dismissals are mistimed shots leading to catches.

I also play a lot of indoor cricket, but am currently out injured with torn knee cartilage (awaiting a knee op next week!! good-oh!)

I play for my local village team, we don't bother playing in any leagues because we can't be bothered with worrying about points, etc. etc...

For some insane reason I bat at number 3 or 4 usually, despite the fact I've scored one single run since mid-August...

I've played cricket for about 16years now, and have played in the same league (for a few clubs though) during this time.

When i was younger i was quite a lively bowler but nowadays just bowl medium pace swingers, cutters and the odd slowerball. Curiously enough i've turned myself from a no.11 bat to an opener!

Ive played for nine years, so since I was 11. Eight of those years I played for my local town, now I play in the 1st XI at in a Sub-District competition. Use to bowl leg spin when I was a junior but have now stopped to work of my batting. I open the batting which I hate doing, no 4 or 5 would be great!!

Pie Chucker, im quite impressed with a leap from last to first in the batting line up, you must have worked quite hard. Congrads

Cheers, there was some hard work most of it was enforced though.

When I was a young lad I used to like to bowl in the net with the best batsman in the club to help me improve my bowling. This meant I also had to bat in that net - which usually included some of the best bowlers! This improved my batting no end and is probably why I'm comfortable with the quick stuff now.

I played Cricket for my school team and I was 1 down batsman. But after my school I am playing from a club in Lahore and now I am a medium pacer bowler as well and now I bat at no. 5 position and bowl at no. 3rd.
