| Anyone watch the Beach Cricket? Sponsered by XXXX lager or whatever, The XXXX Gold Beach Cricket tri-nations series between West Indies, England and Australia at Coolangatta beach took place sometime in the past week. I am watching the games on Sky Sports. The tournament features great blasts from the past including Darren Gough, Graham Gooch, Dennis Lillie, Allan Border, Curtley Ambrose and Courtney Walsh. Also, legendary unpire Dickie Bird still going strong All great fun and good to watch. Anyone here catch it? |

| So Australia won the tournament 'ey? I think there was some inspired stuff by Allan Border, rolling back the years and Darren Gough looked unplayable with his swing bowling. He is still ranked as our 4th best bowler! Good to see Viv has still got it. Good bit of fun, took up a nice morning for me and I can't wait till round 2. |

| Saw a bit of it, Garner bowling to the likes of Fleming and Border, looks good fun overall. Hope its a success over there!

| Weren't they using one of those half fuzzy tennis ball / half smooth and shiny special exaggerated swing ball's that were offered in the XXXX promotion out here ? Funny thing about Allan Border is that he vacated his Australian selectors position because the Australian Cricket Boards sponsorship arrangements with VB (Carlton and United breweries) were in conflict with Allan's ties with XXXX (Castlemaine Perkins). It's a fantastic concept for keeping the likes of Garner, Lillee, Gooch, Thommo, Hughes etc.. alive and well in the public spotlight and having a good time and fantastic former player get together at the same time. A true celebration of cricket, and if its self funded all the better and if its self funded and via media entertains us die hard fans all the better again and three cheers... |
