| I don't see any real competition here. Lara at his best is talked about as touched with genius... but it's principally an instinct and eye thing with him. Tendulkar towers over the rest, to my mind, for bringing together genius and discipline in a way that not even Lara can match: the most technically correct batsman of the modern era doesn't jump into line early in his innings... or look ill at ease playing within himself - he's in his element. For me the only other players to come close to that level in recent years have been Ambrose and Warne. |

| Well! Hai, I would Consider That Players Perform Well When They Are In Good Form. When You Have Taken Consideration On Players Like Lara , Sachin They Are Consistent Players Who Perform Well In Each And Every Match. So Consistent Player Tops The RankList. Thanx Vinoth |

| The rest of this selection aren't even in the frame - only Lara and Tendulker could fight for this title at the moment - my vote is for Tendulkar though if only because I feel the weight of expectation from the Indian crowds is even greater then that of the West Indain supporters - close though. |

| For me the best player is some one who can bat and field or bowl and field, or play cricket really well. Tendulkar bats well, but can he field?; Jonty Rhodes could field really well, but could he bat? Balancing them all up, I'd go for Kallis.Bat,bowl,field. Could even be captaincy material. The best allrounder in the world currently.

| Kallis is great all rounder and has recently had a fabulous run with the bat, I still think that Tendulkar has him due to performances over a sustained period of time. |

| I see all of your points and quite honestly, I don't think this should be titled 'Best Player' because that includes all categories and comparing batters and bowlers can be really difficult. It should be titled 'Best Batsman' because all of those guys you have on your list are batsmen......... And if we are looking at the best batsman in the world, I am going with Lara. I like Sachin a lot, and if we are looking at both forms of cricket combined, I might side with Sachin, but if it is just Test cricket, then it is definitely Lara. No arguments. The guy has made 1 quadruple, 1 triple and 5 other doubles and 14 of his 25 hundreds have been 150+....... Wins matches for his side singlehandedly. And just to respond to CJ D, I have heard Sachin and a lot of others say that more than the pressure of the audience, which they feel is only as big as the size of the ground, it is the pressure of their team that affects them more. In that regard, Lara has carried a burden bigger than Sachin or anyone else of the current generation. So, Lara comes first in that category too. |

| Of that list, it would go to Brian Lara, for reasons pretty much already described. However the current best player in the world for me is Virender Sehwag, simply because of the countless times he has held India up with aggressive, uncompromising attack. And its no fluke either, his average is always climbing. At the moment, if I was an international bowling attack, I would be fearing him the most.
