Down 'ere in't soft as s***e south, we talk about "ninety-nines." Tha's a cornet with ice cream (of no discernable flavour as chucked out by ice-cream vans) optional flake, optional crushed nuts, optional sauces of two different flavours... rasberry or chocolate (if you were lucky).
That was my day in't late sixties/early seventies.
Hundreds and Thousands were for even softer than s***e people (girls) and Mario (who's van stopped outside my school every lunchtime) didn't do those. He did crushed nuts, which stuck in your teeth and took a good hard brushing before bed to remove.
Good times...
And you try telling kids of today... they'll never believe you.
