Hey Mellons, here's a crazy idea!

Let's get together in a London (or Birmingham) park - somewhere like Regents Park, or Richmond Park (I don't know if they have any green bits left in Birmingham) on a Friday or Saturday evening, and have the WAT Boys and Girls Softball game. We'll have a thrashabout for a couple of hours, then all go to a nearby bar and have a few drinks.

It's less hassle, it needs less gear, it needs no ground, it'll take less time and it will be nearer a bar.

Also, even if only a dozen people turn up, we can still have a 'larf' - what do you reckon?

Hmmm... That sounds like a good idea TTFC... It would certainly be easier to arrange than a proper match - also that shouldn't scare off too many people from having a game. Regent's Park would be easily accessible for most people, but if anyone has any better suggestions of a good park to play a game in then feel free to post it.

If it would be easier for people, Valentine's Park in Ilford has a history of cricket, so we could play there. Might be harder to get to than Regent's though!

I believe the phrase you are looking for is 'unisex' version of baseball - and yes I do. I believe it is quite popular in London parks, with mixed team forming leagues and everything. Beside, it would suit my batting style perfectly, and I would win!

Although this seems to be dying a death; I'm hoping that I can resurrect this thread as its getting a bit nearer now.

Anyway, is anyone out there up for coming to London, Regents Park on the 13th/14th August 2005 to play some friendly cricket/softball and have a few pints/cans/bottles of alcohol?

If the words in bold don't tempt you, nothing will!!! Anyway, let me know if you are interested!!!

As those dates fall bang in the middle of my two weeks annual leave, I can certainly still make it...

Mellons, are these dates a Saturday and Sunday? It's gonna be tricky for me if I'm capaining / opening the bowling / batting / cover point megafielding for the Mighty Chertsey 3rdXI in the league.

If you made it an evening do I could make it, otherwise perhaps I'll just come for the drinking bit. Hey, I could bring everyone the leftovers from tea, oh.........hang on a minute, there wouldn't be much!

Come now TTFC! I too have cricket team commitments on the weekend - usually both days - but I'm willing to take time out of my busy schedule to meet some of the motley WAT krew! Surely if we made the meeting up on the Sunday you'd be able to come along?!? I'll make sure someone brings a saucer of milk!

I'm not sure about this, there's going to be lot's of younger people staggering around drinking cheap cider, and I'm not sure I like the look of Kirsty's skin complaint. And I bet it's me left to tighten up RBLC and Ern's truss's when they get tired and lose bladder control - they're not getting any younger you know!
