Browsers & email clients

having reloaded IE6 & outlook express back on to my PC for the millionth time, I'm going for another way. Opera looked very quick but overly complicated, firefox and thunderbird looked the same as IE, and netscape is based ( i think) on firefox anyway.

Point being, have any members tried these new-fangled broweser and are they worth swapping from internet explorer ??

Any thoughts ???

To be honest Rich, I would stick with IE, and Outlook Express, we know the bugs, and can download the patches for them.
Netscape is a poor alternative, I am not sure I like the look of Firefox, and it's e-mail sister Thunderbird.

Why are you having to keep reloading IE % OE I wonder?.

Some firewall interact with both IE % OE, but I reckon this should be the same with other browsers.
In answer to your question, I have tried both, and prefare IE.

There may be a problem with OE soon, Microsoft I believe are stopping supporting it.

I haven't used what u're talking about. I have netscape and IE on my laptop, both work ok. Problem with netscape is that at times it doesn't support a lot of things from various websites. And a few option on some website are only supported by IE.

ps: excuse the lack of technical terms, my computer knowledge is limited, expans only to suffice my needs.

I have been using Firefox for a few months RBLC, and I prefer it to IE. Has many features which IE does not (tabbed browsing, pop-up blocking), is quicker to load, and seems to have far fewer bugs.

Firefox won't let you run ActiveX scripts like IE does and ActiveX spreads alot of malicious crap.

Firefox is cool, except for the fact that it doesn't stop popunders

Pop up blocking is worse than Pop Ups IMHO, I have used a few, buught one from enigma, and they can interfere with browsing.
As for active X, if Firefox will be limited.

My pop theory is wierd. When I didn't have any pop up blockers, pops up used to annoy me, quite a bit too. Now though, with six months of no pop ups, I sometimes think I'm missing them I have hence forth allowed pop ups from a few websites.

I find the popup blocker from yahoos toolbar that sticks on to IE pretty good. My main gripe is that when I click on an email link (contact us or something) rather than outlook express opening up I get about 20 odd windows of IE6 opening up which is making my PIM pretty redundent. Theres no viruses or anything and my firewall is OK, so I'm blaming the evils from Microsoft !!!!!

Was not quite honest Pete , I did pay $29.99 for it from enigma software, but it came as part and parcel with "Spy Hunter".it really bugs me, a great yellow blob asks me permission, and it takes ages to fade away, I disable it most of the time.
