English is not my monther tongue, that is fact, but I've been speaking it for as long as I can remember, considering that I should be getting my spelling and grammar right, feel free to point out any mistakes (and laugh on them) whenver you want. Its gives me an opportunity to laugh at my self too. And hopefully improve.

The reply was only in jest Zainub, definitely not to be taken seriously, being Australian I have enough problems spelling and getting grammar correct.

I just thought it was funny and a possible "Fruedian slip" mistaking quacking and quaking.
I still dont understand why in English there needs to be a "u" following a "Q" always. Look at what Aussies came up with when we named "Qantas" ; now thats ingenuity..

Acker, pedantic, but QANTAS is actually an acronym rather than a word (Queensland & Northern Territory Air Service)

Quick And Nasty Typical Australian Service.

My only defence in posting this is that it was originally told to me by an Aussie. Actually I've always found them pretty fair - QANTAS and the Aussies, that is.

From this end of the world, we used to have SABENA, the now defunct Belgian airline (Such A Bloody Experience Never Again).

Done can sink to the depths of DAN (DAIR) AIR !!!!!! Possibly the worst food I've ever experenced (and thats taking into consideration my awful cooking). Yes I remember my first Dan Air experience like it was yesterday. I knew I was in trouble when they were refueling it.....with logs. Things didnt get any better on board either, they took the steps away and the plane fell on its side...and when the captain was led up the aisle by a guide dog I feared for my life.........

Joking aside, a Britannia plane I flew back from tenerife from made such awful engine noises when it was taxying to the runway I actually asked the hostess if it was OK (it sounded like someone was in the engine) and despite the fact we landed OK, I was alarmed by the 10 mechanics banging away at the damn thing as soon as we landed !

The worst flight I had was on a Tupelev owned by 'Balkan Holiday Airlines' when I went out to Bulgaria. The pressure was somehow wrong inside the cabin, so it felt as if someone was sticking pins into my sinuses and all 3 engines are on the tail of the plane and were so loud you couldn't speak to anyone.

Dan Dair were pretty shabby too. The only one of their planes i've been on had a 'lovely' dark purple interior and looked like a relic from 1970... In fact, it probably was!

Before I moved to Prague, I lived in the USSR and independent Russia for about three years. When I get around to publishing my Aeroflot experiences in 25 easy-to-carry volumes, I'll let you know. Tupolev and Antonov aircraft feature highly on the listings ... And food? Now don't get me started.

Incidentally, apologies to Zainub. This thread seems to have gone way off the plot. Sorry! I'm as guilty as anyone of causing that.

No need of aplogies OF, I enjoyed reading about everyone's travelling experiences. Fortunately mine have so far been somewhat limited, my worst experience was with Royal Jordaninan Airlines (ironically it was anything but Royal) we took off from Karachi, had a stop over in Jordan and then a fligh to JFK. I was travelling with family, so we become adventerous and opted for a low budget thingy, the experience was so bad I've learned my lesson: never comprimise on comfort and quality when you've got to travel for longer periods, especially not if you're not light on luggage, and especially very not if you're with family, it just takes toll on your body(and mind, and soul eventually), and more or less drives you nut.

Acker, you need not worry, I always take my English somewhat more seriously, its not cause anything any one says, just because I seem to actually like the language quite a lot and would love to get better at it.
