Music Quiz

Posting seems slow today, and thanks to being reminded of my sordid media past yesterday, I thought I might run a "Never Mind the Buzzcocks" style music quiz on the forum - just to keep myself (and hopefully others) entertained. I'm looking for 2 teams of 3 of regular contributors - and it doesn't really matter whether you have much music knowledge. Reply to this post if you want to compete!

Okay Mellons, here's an intro round question for you - name this tune :-

Da da da dada dada - doo doo doo dodo dodo?

Secondly, which sultry Scot's songstress with (sometime) fiery hair and temprament was born on Christmas Day 1954, and is still recording as a solo artiste now? (Crikey - that makes her 51 - I used to fancy her!)

Well maybe a couple of clues then -

Question one was a famous deut between two sexually ambiguous stars, which was then performed by the lady in question two at a huge televised tribute gig to one of the former.

There you go - as clear as mud!

And whilst we're at it, what is 'Howling Bruce Dickinson's' (front man of Iron Maiden) two other claims to fame?

Name the two bands that the 5 members of Duran Duran split into briefly in the 80's?

What makes Chris DeBurgh's daughter famous (apart from her eyebrows)?

Which band isn't real - Dumpy's Rusty Nuts, Peter & The Testube Babies, The Virgin Prunes, Uncle Irving''s Oysters

Come on you pop-pickers...........................

Okay Richie, you're on the right track with the first question. One member of the duo was sexually ambiguous, the other was just plain gay (and is also now dead!)

ps How many fiery haired Scottish female pop stars can you think of?

Bruce Dickinson is indeed a commercial pilot, and aparent flies several charter flights a year, so he could well be flying you to Benidorm this year. His second talent is more sporting in nature, and he has had Olympic trials..........

Is it Under pressure by Queen and David Bowie.

Annie Lennox.
Arcadia (can't remember the other)
Miss World
I have no idea, but I think I've heard of the Virgin Prunes.

Milo - you certainly know your sexually ambiguous icons! answers one and two are correct. The other half of answer 3 is The Power Station (remember "Get it on").

Answer 4 is correct and answer 5 is also partially correct. The Virgin Prunes, Peter & The Testube Babies and Dumpy's Rusty Nuts are all real bands. Uncle Irving's Oysters I made up, because I'm like that.
