20 bets - not THAT keen paoli. The Aussie team bus might be involved in a traffic accident on the way to the ground or Gilchrist/Warne/McGrath might colide with each other and break there arms while going for a catch. However, barring some unforseen incident, Aussies will take the Ashes in a canter.

Reviving this thread AGAIN. C,mon - The Aussie dads army are on the ropes- KP and Harmi are tearing us to shreds, Bangledesh making us look like monkeys, guys turning up on match day drunk, the Aussies are dead in the water and Englands time has arrived.
BUT STILL ONLY FOUR TAKERS.
So come on. Make cocky Seamer pay 100 big ones for his misguided faith
(IF anyone is interested, look at the thread starter for the rules)

I'll have a tenner on it! I'm not 100% convinced we'll do it but I'll go for a 2-1 victory to the good guys!

I've got 10 pounds against it being a draw - sorry didn't have the financial resources of Seamer, so if it's a draw the Board at least still gets something. Despite the fact that a 2-1 England victory would see the board get a lot more (and I would save a little), I'll be backing the Ausies all the way.

Kirsty,
I have covered that in the original threadstarter.

(7) In the event of a draw, all participants donate 5 pounds, save me, who will donate 5 pounds for each participant

It might not come to that anyway. If Bucknor and Dar are umpiring England will win. If they are replaced by competent umpires, Australia will win and we all pay.
Players should decide a test series - not umpires

Seamer, get over complaining about the umpires, luck would have evened it self out if some of your batters made use of the luck they got (just 1 century in 8 innings for you guys despite the fact that Kevin Pietersen alone has dropped 6 catches, don't even make me got into the missed stumping and run out opportunities) - Australia are getting some luck - but they haven't made use of it.

Of coarse they could also do with a bit more, but give up the complaing about umpires , please.

Quite right. We've had some bad decisions too. That's all part of sport. I do hope the Aussies accept they've been beaten fair and square. The Australians have been playing with such heart, it is fantastic. Okay, they're losing and we're winning but it takes two teams to create such a potent mix of Entertainment.

Personally, I cannot believe how great this series is. And I actually thought an Aussie provided the best moment. Not Strauss and his incredible superman catch. It was when Lee got Flintoff, bowled. He wa like Kng Kong. Bearing his chest and roaring. It reminded me of another brilliant sporting moment for English sports fans - when Suart "Psycho" Pearce scored a penalty for England in Euro 96 and roared like a lion.

On the subject of Lee - it is he and WArne versus England. Lee is a hero. The passion he shows in incredible. Ther was a shot of him on the telly coerage coming into bowl - teeth bared, eyes wild. Willing a wicket. Warne's standing is even higher now too. What cricketers - sportsmen - they are.

Quite right Cliff-Lee is a hero. Don't know why we've been keeping him in the wings for so long, when clearly his ODI form was a reflection on what he can show in the test arena. By the time of the next Ashes, Lee will be the best bowler in the world; he goes for a lot less runs nowadays as well.

I don't think many people differ to that opinion, except maybe for Rachael, who suggested Anderson was a much better bowler than Brett Lee.
