Ok, here's my one:

(i) I was born in Scotland

(ii) I played 11 tests for England but only scored 67 runs. I also have the honour of scoring the 2nd longest duck in test match history

(iii) My highest first class batting score was 54

(iv) I played for 3 counties, but never played for Scotland

(v) After retiring from county cricket, I turned out for Cambridgeshire for a season

Who am I?!?

Devon somehow managed to rack up 40 Tests (god, at the time it seemed more like 400) and brought up 236 runs at an average of 6.05. His bowling was frequently not much better: lowlights include racking up 3 whole wickets at 80.33 in 3 tests in India... only once in his entire career managing to break the 30 barrier for his end of year bowling average (he hit the heady heights of 29.23, vs. Pakistan, from the single three Test series he played in 1992)... and managing to average an awesome 45.14 against Australia.

Yikes. Rarely inthe history of sport has anyone one man ever earned quite so many expletives.

Anyway... I thought the answer might be Ed Smith but it's not: he made 87 runs from 5 innings at an average of 17.4 (not stunning, but which, if you ignore that flukey 9/57 that everyone rabbits on about is about on a par with what ******** Malcolm ever did).

ps. have just looked at the series averages: anyone remember these:

The Wisden Trophy (Eng/WI) in England, 1991
- 2 42.3 180 3 1/9 2/85 60.00 4.23 85.0 0 0

The Wisden Trophy (Eng/WI) in West Indies, 1993/94
WI 1 28 132 3 3/113 3/132 44.00 4.71 56.0 0 0

The Wisden Trophy (Eng/WI) in England, 1995
- 2 50.3 220 5 3/160 3/160 44.00 4.35 60.6 0 0

Ahh, yes realised it wasn't Malcolm.

Dunno, don't think Doug Brown ever played?

No one's got it right so far. Decent stabs though - it looks like you might have worked out that despite me providing only batting information, that this player was actually a bowler.... I suppose that's fairly obvious from the fact he only scored about 6 runs per test.

Let me know if you want any more clues though.
