| Hello everyone, I am starting a new thread titled "Who Am I?". I will give 5 clues and you have to identify the cricketer. Mail your answers to me through Private Message and not as a reply, so that others get a chance to make an attempt and don`t see your answer. I will post the correct answer alongwith the names of those who have got the right answer. You will have 2 days time to answer each question after which I will post the correct answer. So here goes the first question... CLUE 1: I was born on February 1st,1981. CLUE 2: I made my Test and ODI debut at the age of 21. CLUE 3: I was not originally selected for the World Cup 2003, but later joined the squad during the event. CLUE 4: I became my country`s youngest ever captain at the age of 22. CLUE 5: My highest test score is 277 against England at Edgbaston and I am a part-time spinner. Who am I? |

| At a guess... G. Smith |

| Hmm.. I opened the thread.. read the post fromt he bottom up (seemed easier that way) and never got above "Clue 4"!!! Here goes for my "who am I" offering: I'm a legend in my country... one of the greatest players my country has ever produced. After 50 Tests my batting average was 36.16. I ended my career with a bowling average of 37.44. Who am I? Answer in the thread as I can't be bothered with stacks of PMs... and if I'm offline and uncommunicative and you think you know the answer just go check on cricinfo: there can't be more than one player with those figures! |

| Without looking it up, I would guess it is Steve Waugh. |

| Yup. your turn... |

| I am a former England left-handed batsman, who scored a double ton in my penultimate Test, and 69 in my final Test innings, both on tour in one of the most demanding of countries in which to play. My place in the England side was taken by a future England captain returning from exile. |

| Foxy Fowler?

| Well done. Can you recall why he was dropped when he finaly seemed to be getting something right? I know Gooch returned.. but the guy had shown a bit of ability against the WI at their peak and against India IN India - was he really the weak link in the side? Was he genuinely less promising than Broad or Athey or Lamb? OR Gatting for that matter. This is his record: Code: G Fowler (Graeme Fowler) [Player Page] - LHB; RM; WK
Born: 1957-04-20 (present age: 48y 28d)
Tests: England 1982 - 1984/85 (25y 128d - 27y 291d)
Also: ODI Player 1982/83 - 1986.
Filter: none.

| Yes, that's correct. Fowler's last 2 Tests were at Madras and Kanpur in England's last series win in India. And the future England captain was Graham Gooch who had disgracefully been on a rebel tour of South Africa. |
