| Cricket Committment Poll Just thought it would be good to see how many of us get away from our Monitor screens and actaully watch the game at the ground. So let us know what you have attended, and also if you are a season ticket holder, or if you don't attend any why not, what stops you? Last edited by flanflinger : 30-05-2005 at 06:53 PM. |

| I'm not sure there's an option for me.. I am definitely a "none" with respect to the first class and international game... and am likely to remain a "none" on that front.. but it's not that I've no desire to. Indeed, I might well have ended up at Headingley this summer had there been a Test there as my in-laws live in Morley and my father in law (being in insurance, and a long time beneficiary of Cornhill's sponsorship.. as well as a formerly promising player) is a once-a-year Headingley man... Thing is.. we only really stand any chance of getting out of Norfolk during the main three School holiday periods... only one of those breaks is in the cricket season... we only seem to manage to get away once or twice in each summer... and on those few occasions each year when we do get away there are other priorities... like the obligatory tour of relatives, catching up with friends who are scattered far and wide and a bit of an escape to the hills! To put this in perspective we've not even managed a trip to the cinema since "American Beauty" was released.. and that was before we moved to East Anglia! In terms of lower-level cricket.. there's a rather greater prospect. That said... we used to play a LOT of tennis.. but neither of us has found the time and opportunity to play once since leaving Surrey some 4-5 years ago - so I'm not convinced a rather more time-consuming past-time (and watching rather than participating) is going to become a regular thing - we've found that a friend plays all over Norfolk so might go and watch him.. but that's about it! |

| I've been to test matches and One day county games several times in the past year. I struggle to go to county 4 day games as mainly they are during the week, and I wouldn't waste my team with any team other than Essex. Essex won't be playing Hants this year, so I'll struggle to see them. I watch every Essex game at the Rose Bowl and when I'm not playing cricket on the weekend I go and watch Hampshire struggle in the One Day league. Great stuff. I don't own a membership as I don't get to Chelmsford these days and I'd only buy an Essex season ticket. My office has a season ticket for Hampshire which I do use on occasions. Later this year I'll be watching England vs Hampshire, England vs Australia (old trafford) but I may miss the Hampshire vs Essex 20:20 as I'm playing cricket on the Tuesday night!!! Doh! |

| I go to the test matches at Lords and the Oval every year, plus a one day international. I try and see Surrey play a couple of times a season. This year, I could only get Lord's tickets for the Bangladesh game, because the Ashes test was sold out, which peeved me off no end as I got my application in early - it's all these fair weather friends who only want to see England games when England are doing well!!

| Out of interest, Kirsty... what would that Ashes ticket have cost you? As I recall, Court 1 seats at Wimbledon cost me £22 a few years back with ground passes giving you ordinary "plebian" access (actually better as you can get closer to the action) coming in at < £10. That one off Wimbledon ticket is the single most expensive ticket I've ever bought (by some margin).. but I've a horrible feeling that even a bog standard Ashes ticket would cost me more than that - am I right? |

| I only live about 5 mins from Edgbaston whilst at university and so have been to the test match there for the past three years as well as a few 20-20 and limited over matchs. Being a student I can't really afford to go that much and was planning on going to the Ashes until I saw the £55 price ticket. Not sure i'll be up to too much this summer and so i'm planning to go to see Warwickshire regularly on the weekends.

| I am quite surprised that you did not give us a club cricket option flanflinger, it is cricket after all. Circumstance means it's doubtfull if I will get to Old Traford this year, and other county grounds are out of the question, but I live less than a mile to a splended club in the Northern league.
