| Won't be watching the Live8 concert while the cricket is on,to me that is more important. If the governments in these African countries didn't waste all their cash on arms then we wouldn't need to do this fundraising event. |

| Hi Greg, it's acutally not about fundraising, it's about raising awareness and trying to persuade the rich countries of the world to take more responsiblity for financially crippling the 3rd and 2nd world countries of the world with stupid debt-repayments and rubbish trade deals. The wealthy countries of the world have been screwing over the rest of the world for hundreds of years and people need to accept that this is true. It is our country (and others) that have helped those governments you talk about get power, because it suited the goverment to have them there at one time. Never forget, for instance, that it was the USA who supported Saddam Hussain in the days of the Iran/Iraq conflict. It isn't just about Africa either. And frankly, as much as I may be sceptical about elements of the concert myself, there is no way on earth a game of cricket is more important than the lives of billions of people around the world. If I felt that England losing that game (hell, all their games for the next 20 years) would magically allow all these problems to be solved in exchange I would do it without a moments thought.

| I'm not starting an argument about Live8 (even though I do have strong opinions on it), I'd be here all day. Personally I'm going to watch the concert from a music fans point of view. Paul McCartney is maybe my favourite artist of all time and I heard apparently he will open the concert with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (the lyrics work quite well, he may tweak them accordingly). I don't mind a bit of UB40 (Lemming sings "Red, red wine!"), Dido, Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters as well as a bit of Razorlight and Pink Floyd. There will, however, be a number of acts I will definitely be turning off for: Bob Geldof, U2, Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, Robbie Williams, Madonna, Elton John, Coldplay, Ms Dynamite and Sting, to name but a few!

| Idealism. If anyone thinks Pink Floyd reuniting is anything to do with 'third world awareness' instead of trying to stimulate their record sales then they are well and truly mistaken. Listen to any of the world leading environmental/ecological economists (or the researchers at CGIAR or Worldbank) and they will tell you cancelling the third world debt will make absolutely no difference to the people dying in countries in Africa and the like whatsoever. If the leader of South Africa would begin to agree with medical opinion that HIV actually leads to AIDS, this might be a better start. |
