Well I had this baby book that my mom had made for me and my elder sister. It had a picture of a bird carrying a little baby in its big beak. For until I was 6 or 7 when my youngest sister was born I actually thought all little kids were especially delivered to their parents home via that bird and that bird only. The chick in the avatar looked very similar to the bird on my baby book and hence the connection.

Pretty straightforward this! I haven't owned a TV since 1990, and only ever feel I want one during winter cricket series when I can't find an internet radio commentary.

I meant Bob the Builder only RWS. Bad typing as always. I never watched that as a child, we didn't have access to it back, I have only known about it via frequent cousin sitting sessions. I grew up watching Sesame Street and some other local shows, when I was 6 I had a massive Captain Planet poster in my room. I loved the Cokie Monster. I was and still am somewhere still a massive Big Bird fan, and hence outraged to discover that the Dutch have converted the yellow bird into blue. I was very gullible as a child - I used to think a lot of the things in the world were done by Sesame Street Characters.

Yeah, I like Jonathan Creek - the one's with Caroline Whats-her-name, not the newer ones. I liked the one with Bob Monkhouse, were the picture was just hidden right under their noses, because it was aactually quite a simple reveal...

I didn't much care for the new Miss Marple's recently done by ITV, I thought they missed the whole point of the books!

To my mind Miss Marple is the top t.v crime sleuth, followed by Columbo (just one more thing!) and Sherlock Holmes (Jeramy Brett).

Colombo and Murder She Wrote are two others we used to watch. I didn;t see the Jonathan Creek episode with Bob Monkhouse. Bob is (was) a bit of a cult figure. Probably the best name in showbusiness, 'Bob Monkhouse'. It just sounds great! If ever we didn't know the answer to a question at the pub quiz, we would write 'Bob Monkhouse'. Crap jokes, crap tan, but somehow he was great. A bit like Bullseye.

If you ask me OF that is the way to go. I do have a tv and watch tv regularly but often find myself wondering why on earth I bother! It's full of rubbish which wastes people' time. It has the disgusting ability of being able to grip people's attention and churn rubbish at them, I often hate myself for watching for so long.

If I got rid of my tv I would definitely miss a few things, like sport, news and comedy, but I wouldn't care too much I think. The radio is so much more educating, I find having nothing to look at means I have to use my imagination and think for myself more when listening to the radio, the same applies when reading books you have to use your imagination, and using your imagination is good for you. TV does everything for you and makes people lazy.

Groucho Marx sums tv up very well:

"I find television very educating, every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book!"

I'll tell you this for free Groucho, i couldn't agree more!

Soaps, well these are the scourge of UK TV, there are so many.

Wildlife programmes I quite enjoy, in particular the wildlife in my native country, yes we do have wildlife.

Along with sport that is it, exept for "Lovejoy", the scallywag from Rachael land (I think), and of course "Minder".the loveable rouge from admin land.

Being on line so much, I get all the news I need, unless it is a big event like an election
