My optician told me that there's something wrong with my eyes whereby they don't actually focus on the same point, I'm supposed to wear reading glasses for close work (in addition to my normal glasses) which are supposed to encourage my eyes to focus on the same spot. Interestingly this problem seems to me to be less pronounced when I wear my contact lenses.

I realised this afternoon that I eat crisps right-handed, when I'm actually left-handed. Wierd eh?

Me too, although I would expect this (at least in some people) because you rely on the separation of your eyes for stereo vision. The following is my very unprofessional interpretation.

If you think of the line of sight of each eye as two lines starting about 5cm apart, then bringing the focus together on your finger about 50cm from your face means that this is the point where the lines meet. Anything straight in front of you much, much further in the distance will therefore be seen to the left of the line in your right eye and to the right in your left eye (sorry its hard to explain without a diagram). If you change the focus to 50m in the distance, then the lines will pass outside the finger at one metre, so you'll get double vision, just the other way round.

I realise that the eye doesn't work exactly like this because its not a perfect lens, and relies on some pretty funky interpretative software in the brain, but this would explain what's happening if it works something like one

Another wierd thing I have noticed is that when I use nail-clippers I use them right-handed to cut my left-hand's nails, BUT astonishingly then left-handed to cut my right-hands nails. I must be ambidextrous!

Strange!!!!
