In my opinion the only city in this country capable of hosting a successful Olympic games is Lichfield.
What special event's would the three spired cathedral hold - indoor steeplechase?

Firstly, drawing! The competitors could draw the Cathedral!

Secondly, shooting! The competitors can go to the top of the highest spire and attempt to shoot someone in the city centre, not unlike Dumb Duck who shot Lord Grenville Brooke from the top of the tower during the civil war.

Thirdly, running. As it does every year - attracting competitors such as Roger Black - Cathedral Close would become a 430-metre running track and competitors can run around to win the inaugrial Olympic title in Cathedral dashing!

Finally - Swimming can take place in the adjacent Minster Pool.

Bring it on!

I've heard it'll all depend upon who Madrid's supporters vote for, I'm hoping for the best, but I don't know which way it's going to go to be honest.

Personally, I'd love to see an absolute outsider, the likes of a Moscow or Madrid get it on absolute default! Sydney's Olympics were in my opinion one of the best of the modern era. Everything just ran so smoothly, and it was also one of Australia's best Olympics medal wise. I can't really remember who Sydney had to compete with, from memory it was the likes of Shanghai and other Asian countries. I'm hoping the Londoners get it, but I think Paris will.

It was Beijing. Sydney was preferred in the main due to some countries' aversion to awarding the Olympics to China at that time; nothing to do with the ability to stage the event, everything to do with geo-politics and global economics.

I think another large factor has always been the poor Human Rights records exhibited by China.

It was, funnily enough, Beijing that was the big threat to Sydney - and apparently Beijing was leading the voting right up to the last round of votes, which shows you can never tell what's going to happen!!

I think the Sydney games were amazing, Paoli69 - the best I've seen in my lifetime. Barcelona was also really great. I didn't much rate the Atlantia games though.

Not long till we find out now!
