Not only do you nick my jokes, but now you're resorting to blatently swiping jokes from forum member's signatures! I've seen that one before, on this forum, I'm sure.

It's not a very good insult when you have to nick it off others Mongoose!

Is JKR reading to the kids outside Waterstone's in Rugeley, where I have to assume you ARE, as you haven't refuted the suggestion. If she really is, then you're right, those kids should be camped outside the store. They'll lose their place in the queue, and will have stayed up all night, missing 'Big Brother', all for nothing.

Ahhh! Where's your proof? I've yet to see a Maranello vote in the poll!!!

I think he's changed his mind! He's heard the extract. He's going to get it!

I don't make any attempt at hiding the fact it was on someone's signature/epitaph on this forum. I used it because it's a class comment and by using it I'm paying it homage. And it wasn't an insult, but an observation. Has anyone ever called you 'Sir' (and you can't count Glaswegian call centre workers - 'Hello Sir, can I interest you in ... ?')

Barry!* (this is NOT a one-star rating, but implies a note is at the bottom of the post)! You had forgot where you had seen it! It was a blatent "I've seen this before, can't remember where but I'll use it as my own, I'm funny I am! Dead funny!" But it doesn't wash, got it?

I'll give you an example where I get called "Sir" every day, here is a typical conversation I have all the time:

Mongoose: (Knocking the door) Excuse me Sir, would you like some tea?

Lemming: (Somewhat violently attacking Mongoose with a soft pillow) What do you think?

(Mongoose scampers downstairs, cups are heard clinking, kettles are heard boiling and Mongoose is heard whimpering quietly)

...five minutes later...

Mongoose: Here's your tea Sir!

Lemming:
Right then Mongoose, get out!

Mongoose: (Avoiding, to the best of his ability, the barrage of cuddley toys) Yes Sir!

THE END

There you go, there are three "Sirs" in there, and I can assure you forum members, this happens everyday!

*Not only does this refer to Mongoose's somewhat uncanny resemblance to Barry "to me, to you" Chuckle, but is also Lemming rhyming slang and works a little like this; Barry, Barry Cryer, You Little Liar!

(I think I've had too much tea!)

Lemming made more tea for me, actually, folks. He's clearly had too much tea. And if he has to make up instances where he's been called 'Sir' then it clearly hasn't happened. I get called 'Sir' several times every day e.g. 'Sir, you're the best teacher ever'; 'Sir, can I join your lesson today. I hate having Mrs [x] for English'; 'Sir, don't leave. School won't be the same without you'. Actually, many pupils HAVE asked me not to leave (don't know why!). And the second one is true!

Back to the books ... which is the best Potter book. So far, it's the second one, but I've only read 2-and-a-bit.

LOL. Only because I like Professor Tolkein's snore-a-thon even less Now, if there was a third option, something along the lines of: "Neither JK nor JRR; in fact, I'd much rather see paint dry, or even visit the dentist", I might have been tempted to vote
