As for all policemen carrying firearms. The tricky thing is that then criminals arm themselves and therefore will have weapons and hence are in a position to use them. I don't want to get off topic with this thread, but a similar example is the debate on whether house-owners can attack and possibly kill burgulars legally. Burgulars will arms themselves and enter houses expecting trouble, ready with a firearm or knife themselves. The same applies for criminals expecting to possibly encounter armed-police, they will fill their pockets with guns, and if they have guns on them anything can happen to any law-abiding victim in the vicinity of the criminal/police.

| In my book, taking it from cricket. If the police take the threat serious enough to shoot amd kill the person then its like a batsmen taking a risk. If it comes off he is a hero. If not he will be hounded for taking the shot. I would prefer the person dead than other people taken out by his actions. If the person was innocent - why the hell run. |

Whether he was connected to the bombings or not, if policemen ask me to stop, I stop! If they have a gun in their hand, I stop quicker. Sounds like an unfortunate event, but I'm not going to blame the police. They are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

| This incident is what i was worried about though. An innocent person getting caught up in it and ending up dead. There will be some serious questions asked by the dogooders in this country after this. |
