You're closer to it than I am, Maranello. I find it all a bit depressing. It's fifteen years or so since I left the UK, a land of freedom and tolerance, to go and live in the Soviet Union, which was renowned for a lot of things but not those. And then I moved here, where one of the most oppressive secret police forces of the post war era once ran the show. The whole world has turned on its head. Sometimes even when I read about England I don't recognise it as my old home. When I visit, the changes are even more apparent, and they aren't all that good to look at in many cases. There are reportedly three thousand coppers carrying guns around London today - one in ten of them! How does it make the place safer to have three thousand offensive weapons on the streets (guns are useless as a defensive weapon, IMO)? I'm logging off for a while: I just want to go and weep for a few minutes!

I agree entirely, but that is not the justification offered by them. They said its for "security" reasons, which is plainly laughable. They should have the moral courage to explain their real motivation.

But they have never said they are a purely "profit making entity". They should say so, since it would be honest, and would stop a lot of complaints people have when they expect them to behave in other, non-profit maximisng ways.

The ECB were admirably honest when they said they sold TV rights to Sky, and took them off all free-to-view services, as they want to maximise revenue - nothing wrong with that motivation, and with the following logical decision, one which I support. However, what I do not support, or care for, is people in authority offering me silly explanations for their behaviour.

Very true.

How many instances of players being injured by bottles has there been? Also if that is the reason will they ban mobile phones?

Also, just thought, they will probably sell bottles of water in the ground, which negates the arguement.

Usually when I go to the cricket at Edgbaston, I drink about 2 litres of water because it gets hot sitting in the sun all day. I suppose now I'd have to pay about £8 on water when I'm actually there. Considering the price of Ashes tickets this summer I may as well just stay at home.

It'll be lunchboxes next. They can do some damage! Especially when they are filled with soggy sandwiches and yoghurts. I expect soon you'll only be allowed lunchboxes which house light crisps such as quavers!

Quavers? Only if there is no clash with the Sponsors; they might support a different brand you know! So, maybe Quavers and Hoola Hoops will be outlawed, and one is only allowed Cheesy Wotsits
