Lol! Don't quite get this one. Either you're saying I'm nuts as it would be a monty for you to go (I'll book my ticket soon btw) ot your nuts because you'd never do that Explain.

I like that quote actually Zainub. "If there was no god there would be no atheists". Been thinking about it for a little while. Made me change my feeling about purpose, but after reading Romeo and Juliet in class, where the main theme is "Fate", it doesn't appear to be a good thought that your destiny is prewritten. I'd like to become a journalist but if it does happen it will so in the future, at least five years from now. So I don't think that at the moment I have a vocation. I may, but I wanna have a good time and mix it with hard work.

Fate is one of those things where you can't half believe it.

I missed the bit about what happens after you die the first time I read and replied to this.

Theologically I'm drawn to the idea expressed in the New Testament, where when we die we sleep until the end of the world and the last judgement, and the old heaven and the old earth pass away and there is a new heaven and a new earth, at which point there is the final judgement and the "righteous" are resurrected and live on the new earth, where there is no death or suffering etc.

So far as the judgement goes, I've never been keen on trying to guess what God's judgement will be, but we had a very interesting sermon this past sunday, based on the gospel reading, which was Matthew 25.31-46. The main gist of which was that we will all ultimately be judged on how we have treated our fellow human beings.

For a greater part of my life I was firmly of the opinion that what my profession will be will have a big part of what my purpose in life is, I've recently realised though (thankfully, in fact very, very, thankfully) that profession is the last thing on the agenda when it comes to one's purpose in life. It's obviously different for different people, but I have just grown to realise that.

I never saw Besty play but he has inspired many people over the years. I'm sure he will go to the better place regarding to where ever you believe that is.

I am well known among my friends for having a cynical streak, which explains the following:

What is my purpose in life? Nothing. My life just happened. I was actually born by accident. The third child of my parents, who had been quite happy with two until 'a few beers and a bit of wild sex' intervened (the quote is my father's exact, unforgettable response when I asked if he and my mum had planned each child). So probably owe my very existence to a can of lager. I'm not here to do anything in particular. I'd just like to enjoy the experience, while being nice to people.

What happens when we die? Well, if you know your Shakespeare, Hamlet gives a wonderfully morbid explanation of how a king can pass through a beggar's gut. No more explanation needed.

Sweet dreams!
