I said...switch teams and grow the "Chopper Read" handlebars. Come on RBLC....combine that with the porno sunnies, open black shirt and the silver briefcase, and you'll be just fine.

The only trouble with your wet archaeoligical trench, is that you'd probably have to share it with her and Matthew Kelly at the moment.

I suppose there is an element of uphill gardening when standing at the bottom of an archaeologist's trench... but I'd try to avoid it if I were you.

Perhaps you can get hold of her when she comes back from Egypt.

Kept it, but body hair was a long long long way down on the list of horrors from the date from hell. Details will be shared once I've got through a huge stack of work this morning.

The archaeologists that worked on him - a figure rather like the more recent Alpine glacier wanderer - christened him: Pete Bog.

It's good to know that even archaeologists have a sense of humour.
Pete Marsh was the name, although the crusty museum types refer to him as 'Lindow Man' after Lindow Common where he was sacrificed and dumped in Celtic times. He was dug up just down the road from where I live, and was one of Manchester Museum's big stars until the London crew decided to get their hands on him.

Smashing thread, by the way. A bit of hair-related humour, a bit of history, a bit of language and study of names. As Alan Partidge once said ... 'lovely stuff'.

Thanks very much for correcting me there Mongoose. Honestly!

I was troubled by the Bog surname, wondering if I should attach a second "G" to make it more like a surname and less like a... errrmmm ...marsh.

Yes, Marsh, obviously. Thanks.

I've voted for the time machine, by the way. If you can build a time machine to 1974, then presumably you can build one to go to other years too. You could go back to the late 1980s and persuade Mark Ramprakash to take Indian nationality (maybe using your powers of persuasion to convince Tendulkar he is English at heart).

Good thread this one alright.

I think I got lucky with my name, Michael. As opposed to some of the rather more Irish Irish ones. Thankfully they seem to be mostly saved for girls, Caoimhe or Sadhbh and the likes.
