Can't we lobby for Shane Warne instead? He made Freddie look quite ordinary...

I also prefer Flintoff, obviously. Although Warney could get international sports personality of the year. I don't think there are any other contenders are there?

The rules say that you can only vote for British sportsmen and women.

Yes, of course he did Rachael.

Flintoff - 24 wickets at 27.29 (194 overs), 402 runs at 40.20 (high score 102) batting at 6.
Warne - 40 wickets at 19.2 (252.5 overs), 249 runs at 27.46 (high score 99) batting at 8.

Clearly a mile apart as all-rounders.

As a cricket fan it would be good to see Flintoff.
I read in the paper the people for BBC sport personality were out in Pakistan.
Was Botham the last crickter to win it?
Actually to be quiet honest those programmes make me puke. But if cricket is the cause I will put up with it for this year but not any other.

Alison,

Thanks for pointing out the failure in Rachael's argument.

Could Cricket clean up at the awards, Warne is definately a candidate for Overseas player of the Year, while England have to be in with a shot for Team of the year. While Duncan Fletcher could win Coach of the year.

Not too sure if Ian Bell has done enough to win the Younger Player of the year, and let's be honest Andrew Murray, despite winning last year is again the only real candidate

As Botham won the lifetime achivement award, I dount they will give it to a Cricketer - but how about Richie Benaud?

If Botham got his award this year (rather than last year) Fletcher won the coach award and Flintoff won Personality I think Rachael may finally get over her ove of the BBC!!

I sometimes worry for you two and a half years of jeoulesy and attacking Flintoff is quite enough dont you think?.
