| Skippy Sinclair What does Mathew Sinclair have to do to get into the black caps? I'll delve into his latest four scores in first class cricket....... 121, 103*, 101, 53 Not bad, kinda beats anything Hamish Marshall has done in a while......... |

| Might aswell chuck his 5th lastest of 59* in there too Yeah im a big Skippy fan :P |

| It is one of the biggest surprises in cricket seeing him being frozen out.Has he got any off-field problems that could affect the dressing room? That is the only reason i can think for him being ignored. |

| Nope, no off-field issues I think the only reason for his ommisson must be his slight lack of consistency.... and perhaps his age with the selectors keen to ge new guys in (How, Fulton etc) May i point out for a random fact that i attend the same school at which Jamie How, Mathew Sinclair, Ross Taylor and Jacob Oram learnt to play cricket |

| bevan griggs too . . . but are you sure about How, i know he had a namesake at that school (Jamie Howe) but apparently he [the cricketer] was born in new plymouth - not to say he couldn't have shifted anyhoo - as much fun as six degrees of seperation is - sinclair has to count himself as very unlucky. i read somewhere that bracewell considers him more of a middle order player and therefore won't get a spot as an opener. which makes sense on one hand - but then his logic falls over when he persists with hamish (no5 please) marshall at the top. if he was using papps then that'd be fair enough another unlucky CD man is michael mason (did he go to the same school - i think he plays for their old boys club)

| Yep Bevan Griggs too. How definately. Mason im pretty sure didnt... |

| One possible reason for his exclusion is that his batting technique is a little untraditional and that Glenn Turner (only specialist batsmen on selection panel) doesn't like his technique, hence promotes other batsmen ahead of him. |

Sinclair has said that if he doesn't get a central contract this year, he'll abandon NZ cricket and relocate to Eastern Province in South Africa where he would get paid considerably more than the NZ$30,000 he gets paid by CD. In the off season, he's apparently been reduced to working at Napier Harbour and doing some teaching on the side to supplement his income. To give some perspective, NZ$30k is about GBP10-12k. Factoring in the lower cost of living in NZ, he's probably getting about GBP15-17k. That is a real pittance for a professional to be getting paid IMO. That's about where English county players of his standard were over 10 years ago! I think NZ are going to increasingly see players such as Sinclair and Spearman desert NZ to get a decent wage in England or South Africa. Seeing as many Saffers are leaving SAF to get paid decently in England, what does that say about the salary that Sinclair's getting? I can't see Bracewell being swayed by Sinclair's action. He could well play his last game for CD next week. |
