Jamie How

is he still in or around the Senior squad?

I saw his debut against us, on the last day of last year. He looked techincally sound, and embarrased our supposedly 'decent' bowling attack.

I was wondering if he has shown any signs of becoming the next best thing of New Zealand cricket?

I don't think he did so well in South Africa; and is probably only a test option - NZ don't play much test cricket it seems. How has a solid technique, but I thought Peter Fulton did too and he's looked crap lately. I'm more interested in seeing how Ross Taylor and Jesse Ryder develop at the moment, but a good start for How for Central Districts could see him back in Black.

How is about half an hour away from walking onto the Basin (in glorious sunshine!?!) for his first day of provincial cricket this season. If he loses the toss he'll probably be having his first bat - and from the sounds of it won't have too much fun - the pitch hasn't taken the recent rain too well apparently . . .

Ross Taylor and Jesse Ryder are of course in the same game so a good showing could perhaps see a 'wildcard' selection for the gloriously extensive 2006/07 test season
