I don't know that it would make much difference. Even so, i think he captained in india at the champions trophy in the absence of Fleming on one occasion? Not sure, however.

"I think the one thing that concerns me more than anything, is how will he cope being a bowler, batsman and a captain all at once.. Dont get me wrong i think he is going to be the next ODI captain for the kiwis, but its just that little thing that concerns me.. "Would we not be better to just get a captain that bats only? Like perhaps Peter Fulton??

I think of all the Kiwi players Vettori is the most tactically adept. His understanding of the game and undoubted wisdom makes him, in my opinion, the most obvious choice. Whether or not he can cope with pressure of being New Zealand's number one spinner as well, however, remains to be seen.

Although generally I am not really a fan of bowlers being the Captain, Vettori seems to be the only suitable replacement. The others in the team that consistently make the NZ side (Bond, Styris, Oram.....that's probably it) all tend to get injured on a regular basis. And as others have said Vettori has been groomed for this role.

Will be interesting to see if Flemings batting improves as a result.

You can add Brendan McCullum to that list crabs. Which is one reason why I voted for him, also he's a very aggresive and would be a more attacking captain than I think Vettori would.
He's likely to lead from the front often as he's been one of our top performing batsmen the last few years, as keeper he's in the best position to see how a bowlers performing and where opposition batsmen weaknesses may lie.

I had more reasons the other day but can't remember them.

Im concerned over whether Vettori's bowling will be affected by the captaincy, he may be reluctant to bowl himself or may feel he needs to make the breakthrough everytime and over bowl himself.
