Flemings replacement?

Who do you think should replace Fleming as ODI captain. Vettori has long been touted as the next in line but is he ready to step up?

Are there any other candidates worth considering?

Given none of the real candidates have any significant amount of top level captaincy experience, you have to go with Vettori who has the brains and the experience to ensure that his game is not effected by the significant extra pressure.

Hopefully the new captain won't have to deal with the schizophrenic selection policies of John Bracewell.

Agreed. Vettori is probably the most intelligent guy on (and maybe off) the field in international cricket (although Jayawardene might dispute that). He is a decent guy as well and so will make a good captain.

I went for Styris though i could understand if Vettori got it.To me both would be capable of the job.

I think Styris would be a capable captain, but when Vettori is an option for me the decision is a basic one.

It will more than likely be Vettori. NZ have been nursing him for a while now, lets not forget that he captained NZ last year against Sri Lanka and won 2 out 3 off those games. But if Vettori dosnt get it IMO i think Peter Fulton should be looked at for a future ODI captain for the kiwis. Although i really dont see this happening in the near future.

Yeah he has a good cricketing brain, but the one thing that concerns me though, is he capable of being any good away from home.
