A piece in the Waikato Times yesterday said Marshall's NZ contract was worth $48k plus match fees.

I'm glad to see him go, Bracewell's gave him far too many chances and he never proved himself after that first season.
This wont open the door for Sinclair as he's only seen as a test player. I think we have a good enough middle order (fleming, taylor, styris, oram) that hamish's spot should go to the most promising opener as its about time Bracewell brought back specialist openers.

Actually i'd prefer it if Bracewell followed Marshall's lead now that John Wright has said he'll be staying in NZ.

Exactly... Bracewell will hopefully follow Marshall into international obscurity. Wright would make a much better, more inspiring coach.

Good riddance to him anyway. He doesn't deserve a place in the team.... I'm also hoping this means that Bracewell is going to resign.

Skippy Sinclair has been given Marshall's NZC contract. I think its a good move on his part, now he gets paid $45,000 a year to not be picked, sounds like a cushy job to me.

I read in the Dominion Post this morning that Skippy wasn't their first choice either, but the Player's Union refused to accept the first decision of the selectors. The whole process stinks, and I'm surprised that Skippy has decided to accept the contract. Shows he has a darn sight more loyalty to NZ than Hamish 'fairweather friend' Marshall. Sinclair has been treated like ****, yet he'd still give his right arm to play for his country.
