| yeah ur right...its an end of an era for new zealand cricket with fleming gone. i can see dravid, ganguly, laxman, kumble's test careers coming to an end pretty soon. i can see dravid and ganguly's ODI career pretty much done with, unless the young lot perform real bad for them to be inducted back. u might have noticed i dint mention sachin in that list as the very thought is unimaginable, i'm sure on that inevitable day india WILL be in tears. for me personally... i have grown up watching sachin play...and my earliest memories of cricket revolve around him, he's been around for what 18 years now!!!!... so for me to come to terms that he wont play cricket anymore will be very tough. i'm sure millions of people in india and many more around the world will agree.
anyway coming to the point fleming is an unfulfilled talent as u say. i saw his press meet and he said i want to be remember as a thinker of the game and i feel the world will remember as that and one of the best players from Kiwiland.
The future... well... who knows, australia's future doesn't seem too bad except that shane warne is being missed heavily. India's future in tests seems a little bleak with the big 4 out and I dont see close to worthy replacements for them around right now. i guess time will decide how the new era of players perform and how the teams look like. i guess the older members of this forum have seen a few generations of cricketers and maybe they have a more optimistic view than I have, i guess they will probably deal with these retirements easier as well they have seen scores of good players hang up their boots. |
