New Zealand to play warm-up one-day game

Quote:

New Zealand will play a warm-up game against a Victorian Invitation XI ahead of the three-match one-day series against Australia for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy. The practice match, to be played at the Albert Ground in Melbourne on December 2, will be a 40-overs-a-side affair against a second-string Victorian side which has only three players with first-class experience – John Taylor, Ian Hewett and Rob Cassell.

The first ODI will be played at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne on December 5, while Sydney and Brisbane will host the next two matches.

Invitation XI squad Tim Welsford (capt), Aiden Blizzard, Liam Buchanan, Rob Cassell, Adam Crosthwaite, Simon Dart, Ian Hewett, Simon Hill, Cameron Huckett, Grant Lindsay, Carl Sandri, John Taylor.
If NZ lose against this lot....

I think they'll win, they're not that bad, wondering why though Victoria couldn't put forward a first XI, the regulars must all be busy playing then?

Yep.

Mind you Croswaite, Blizard, Cassell are all current Vic players and the likes of Welsford, Huckett and Buchanan are no mugs.

Didn't NZ just play two warm up games against Australia?

Haha indeed.. Apparently NZ has a strong one-day side. However I'm a firm believer that this isn't true, and i'm hoping that the Aussies can expose this over the next three ODI's

Surely if you're warming up you have at least to break a sweat? Don't think the Aussies did that, did they?
