goldies back

ok, who's seen this:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,...4a1823,00.html

i've had my eye on him since he started playing cricket again and, while his performances have been solid i've never thought him international material.

is this a genuine try out or just a marketing ploy to encourage the punters?

Sensational (and inspiring) story either way: good luck to him :-)

ps. I think you guys might need a LOT of luck: that's one hell of a ODI squad you've got coming to tour :-)

This is just a marketing ploy by NZC. His figures this season so far are pretty average...and he's 31! I think NZC must have been swayed by the fact that these aren't gonna be fully santioned ODI's. Good thing too as we're gonna struggle as this team...Murali and Warne in the same team!!

yep - i'm looking foward to seeing murali and warne bowling in tandem

i think the NZ selectors are viewing this as a pure experimentation series - hence the oportunity to name someone like wilson where they've been thinking 'he's not quite good enough - but i'd love to give him a go jusst to check'

also read somewhere that oram may be promoted 'very high' in the order - opener perhaps?

Nz #2

I just checked out the ICC rankings and NZ are number 2! I knew you NZ were going well but not that well. NZ should be well and truly competitve in this series i would have thought.

Yeah NZ have been on a good run. As for Goldie, well he is a talented cricketer, he could raise some eyebrows.

NZ are a class ODI team at the moment and do thoroughly deserve their number 2 spot. and its not like aussys are way ahead of them either.

I can't help but think that the likes of India and the Windies can thrash nz if they fire on all cylinders.
