McGrath had got him out 3 out of 4 times in a row and should have had him the other time except for blind umpires (and I'm Australian!). Why wouldn't you bring him on straight after lunch? Granted Flem had dropped down the batting order, and McGrath was just finishing his spell when Flem first came to the crease, but why wouldn't you bring him on straight after lunch?

That's basically what ive been saying. But no-one scrutinises it because his team his winning. You can still be a good captain and lose. It's whether you have the players who can do what you ask.
I've captained teams myself. The first had the players and I had a lot of success. We actually won the premiership that year :-P The second were hopeless, and it was really hard.
Flem cannot captain the way he would like because he doens't have the players.
