Agreed, NZ finally rack up a decent batting effort, bowlers look as ordinary as ever though.

Talking

I bet they'd give anything to have Bond, Oram and Vettori in this side.
Got home from Uni today to hear that SL had only lost ONE wicket in TWO sessions..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......... glad I wasn't watching!

Sri Lanka post 498 in conditions which technically should be testing, point taken Zainub?

The pitch is as flat as a highway. Honestly. Even IF NZ had decent bowlers (remembering that Vettori is not playing), they would get NO assistance from the pitch.
LOL some guy in the crowd summed it all up when he called out BORINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

I saw some highlights, very few of them yesterday, and I agree, it's fair to say that pitch isn't of a great deal of help to any kind of bowlers.

I don't however share the view that the match must have been boring watching live. Mahela Jayawerdene is an excellent player to watch on form, as are most Sri Lankans.

On the match as a whole, I kind off fancy a result here. NZ's recent history of second innings collapses (ok, I conceed against bowlers of much higher caliber) should if nothing more at least keep Sri Lanka interested.

I can so remember Pakistan winning out of similar no hope position last year, NZ had an even bigger lead back then, they were 200 odd head and 3 down, but Shoaib ran through them and we ended up winning by 3 or 4 wickets chasing about 250 odd. No one exacly like Shoaib in this Sri Lanka side, but that guy Malinga has some pace, and a somewhat awkward round arm action to contend with. If he or some one else can take a few quick wickets tomorrow, it might just send the pigoeons amongst the cats for NZ (or is that cat amongst the pigoens?). You never know, strange things can happen in test cricket at times. Never rule out anything.

NZ this time did have enough resistance to hold out the test match, but had Vincent fallen sooner...

561 First Innings, I noticed here in Australia a lot of the New Zealanders commentating such as I think Ian Smith and Martin Crowe were allready patting players on the back and big noting their acheivement prior to the Sri Lankan's batting in response.

I noticed this occuring during the New Zealand / Australia series, I'm am surprised that the NZ team can keep its feet on the ground with all the back slapping of mediocrity that past player commentators heap on the current side.
If you took on board their expert commentary the Kiwi team currently has 2 bowlers of superior talent to Glen McGrath , a spinner and an ex spinner coach superior to Shane Warne. 2 to 3 batsmen with more potential than Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist, and a new player who on each occasion they predict will be the next big thing.

I'm surprised the current team can even function, considering the amount of misguided accolades this group of media clinger-ons are heaping on it

So right you are Acker. The NZ Sky team is one of my least liked ones in the world.

I agree, and i hear them 24/7.

Most of em are very biased and find dozens of new things to whinge about every time. Its irritating to say the least.
