Have you seen Astle play much? Perhaps his 222 against England off what was it? 156 balls? lmao

Or any of his destructive 100's - he is an agressive batsmen

yes, i was going to say judging from the way he plays (particularly in domestic) and from some of the comments he's made, historically astle's problem has been slowing his strike rate down (and increasing his concentration levels) for the longer game . . .

i still reckon he's a better test player than ODI at the moment, maybe he's mellowing as he's got older?

and we're all forgetting he was originally a bowler . . .

i think astle would be better suited down at 4 or 5 these days, has difficulty getting his strike-rate up early in his innings these days, sinclairs not an option, too slow to gather runs, vincents an option, just needs to be disciplined, i guess they stick with fleming or vincent (d other will be at 3) and try a couple of new players in mind of d world cup in 2007.

Red face

I'd like to see Fleming drop back to No 3. HIs performance is pivotal to the side and he's not really an opener. Any time he faces a genuine quick like Brett Lee or Shoaib Akhtar, he's in trouble. Vincent would be a good attacking option at the top, which would free Astle to play his natural game.
