Atherton on Donald, Pollock and McGrath

In a discussion of Pollock on Talksport this morning, Mike Atherton was asked who he'd rather face: Donald, Pollock or McGrath.

The answer was unhesitating: Donald.

Seems that whilst faster and more hostile... he was so much more erratic that he'd give you more loose balls to hit. Same reason went for preferring to face Pollock to McGrath.

Interesting food for thought for those who think batsmen have a major aversion to hostility: Donald was about as hostile as any bowler has ever been!

That is a surprise. All world class bowlers, and I'd rather face the otther tow than donald. I'm not a test class opening bat though.

Would you agree Rachael that pollock is half the bowler he was without Donald ? Still good obviously, but not the threat he was ?

Not really surprising. But for me, who's an occasional cricket player, facing Donald will be tough. For an established test opener, speed is not as much of a problem. Also, when the ball is leavable it's so much better for them. McGrath will hardly give you a ball that you can leave easily.
