What a start for England!

I have to admit I've always been skeptical of Alex Wharf a bit, he took 3 wickets against India on his debut, but I always thought he was just not international material, so far, I have to admit, he's proved me wrong.

Yes, for a first change bowler, not a good sign!

Prince out for 27, it's 114-4. And Boucher has come in ahead of Kemp ! There are 20 overs to go. I would have thought the scene was set for his maiden ODI ton!!!

At thirty overs, SA are 114-4, a much tighter display all round by England's bowlers and even Collingwood's expensive couple of overs being partly repaid by his catch of Prince off Giles. At the beginning of the game, The Guardian's text commentator said the pitch was a belter - true or false, TV watchers everywhere? If true, containing SA to this extent is quite promising. Normally we would expect about the same number of runs in the last twenty overs as were scored in the first thirty, right? Suggesting a reasonable target for England of around 230 to 240. What does the board say?

Incidentally, also supporting the position that the bowlers have tightened up a bit, The Guardian text commentary reports that there were no boundaries from the nineteenth over to the thirty-third.

Not unlucky, he's just stupid He never ever calls tails, the guy should know by now that calling heads all the time won't make him win the toss.

Ain't nothing wrong with the pitch, no swing or seam movement.

Apparently Boje's been dropped because they're scared it might rain.

The weather is forecast to deteriorate later in the day, according to Cricinfo. Duckworth-Lewis might come into play. I just hope the game lasts long enough to constitute a contest (England must face at least 20 overs for D/L to operate).
