The next question that has to be asked is: have we got a game on here? Have England set a competitive target (against the odds after the loss of their first two wickets for one run)? Will the combined firepower of Wharf, Ali and - um - Harmison be enough to see us home?

With Pietersen just departing, probably not - but miracles do happen and there's no reason why the SA batsmen can't do what we just did...

Great innings from Pietersen, who finishes the series with an average of 151.33 and a career average of 139.50. Good work! And, as someone above mentioned, a good thing he's on our side!

The only trouble with that stat is that Vaughan hasn't done badly this series, as has been discussed this morning. I think that Vaughan may well have scored more runs than Tresco and Strauss combined!! Anyway I like the sound of a shoot-out between Gibbs and Pieterson, mainly cause I think Pieterson would kick his ass!!

Just looked at the card,
Does not look like Vaughan is cut out for one dayers, not just his lack of runs today, but his slow good score the other day, that may well have lost us the match, big doubt about Jones, in particular as an opener.

Good gob we had NEs Pieterson.
