India vs Pakistan, 6th ODI at Delhi

Pakistan have come back with a vengeance, when they were 2-0, destined to be 3-0, down. Now leading 3-2, they are comfortably in front in the last ODI. Hate to be a jinx but well done Pakistan, a well deserved series victory. Man of the series, the game breaker, Shahid Afridi.

The Indian batting absolutely imploded, and Pakistan romp home to victory.

What I truly can't understand is the lack of imagination with the bowling, simply 'restricting' Pakistan, or trying to, is just not good enough. India weren't hungry, and hence got ripped apart. Simple as that.

Disappointing from the Indians...But I guess it just shows that form counts for nothing when these two rivals play each other.

It's been an impressive fight back by Pakistan in this series, given their performance in thefirst couple of days -they throughly deserved the 4 - 2 series win. Some great performances!

The most heart warming thing this series, has been that more or less the entire team has contributed whether they were winning or whether they were fighting to save the match.

Pakistan finished well on top in this series, although they were always well eqquipped to do well in the ODI's. Rana Naved was deservedly named man of the series with 15 wickets on pitches which offered little assistance, , usually top order batsmen as well.

Pakistan were in control of this one from start to finish. 303 was a very commanding total on a pitch which was probably more suited to chasing 250. Afridi again upsetting the Indian rythm with a brutall 44 and the rest playing very clinicla innings to get to their target.

India in reply just didn't have any answers, Sehwag and Tendulkar accounted for by Rana and Rao, and when Dravid was run out soon after there was no road back. Pakistan have now won 8 of their last 10 ODI encounters with India. Not so much an indictement of India's team as showcasing Pakistan's strength in this format.

They lack mental application, technically this India side should be able to take the Pakistani attack to the cleaners. However their bowlers gave it 100%, and that was the difference.

Indian Runchase in this series

the Indians buckle under pressure everytime they chase 300. They have to see how the Pakis approached their 317 run chase in Ahmedabad.Unfortunately,Indians end up scoring only half of the target score.

First of all.

On occasions like this one must smile.

Now to the serious stuff. Even now when I look at these two teams on paper, and think about the relative strengths and weaknesses of the two sides…I sort of go wao! Did we actually manage to pull this off. 4-2 after being 0-2 down. Was this real? And then the voice inside me tells me, yes, it was, it 'is' actually. And then the joy I get, boy, is it difficult to describe or what.

What a spirited performance we have shown, I couldn't have been prouder. Proof, if there was one ever needed, that Bob Woolmer's new style is the right way to go about for Pakistan cricket, has been provided. His preference for less glamorous, sometimes even less talented, but hard working players, who don't back out when it comes to commitment has once again bore fruit. Not only with regards to players, but this time we even performed in his style, barring the odd Afridi master class (which defied all logic and reason, and hence forth must be separately analyzed in my opinion) we played atypical cricket to the one we are used to see Pakistan sides of the past playing. And the results are there for everyone to see.

Long live Bob Woolmer. I must be his biggest fan now I think.
