Who cares? It was far more convincing when England beat Australia in the CT. This was just a slog fest game.

Well done England. It was just the start i was hoping for and will only add to the anticipation of the series. While i do'nt think it is in any way a phsycological blow to the Aussies, it will definately give the English team and its supporters a boost which will only add to the exitement and anticipation for the rest of the series.

It doesn't really mean anything, other than that England temporarily have bragging rights. Not that anyone will be bragging. Australia are still in the process of getting some cricket into their boots, while English players are more experienced at Twenty20. I'm sure the Aussies aren't getting too worried about it, and England aren't reading too much into it either.

It meant quite a lot of fun actually for me personally. I was practicing desicting an earth worm when the match was going on - the poor thing, I had to preserve it's degistive system but as Dazler got two wickets in two balls...in excitement I cut the poor thing's gizzard Had to start all over again after that ...

I think this result is going to be good for two things : 1)England confidence 2) Ern's Ashes prediction

Does that mean you had to get a new worm? Was the little wretch still alive while you were doing this to it?

I had better inform you at this point that I am a leading member of the RSOHCA (Royal Society for Only Humane Cruelty to Animals). Lemming is the other member. We only advocate humane cruelty to animals. If death is required, it should be swift and unexpected. Having said that, we don't consider fish, or other marine life, to come under our scope, as fish have no feelings anyway. I suppose we could put it on the agenda that we can't really care about creepy crawlies too. In future though, to ensure the well-being of the worm (i.e. a quick death), consider using a gun or a controlled explosion to put it out of its misery, rather than taking it to pieces bit by bit. Of course, if we decide, for Society purposes, that worms etc aren't animals, you're free to do whatever you like to it.

Dont you love that word 'Humane' or 'inhuman'. Personaly I think Animals are far less cruel than Humans. You dont see them experimenting on other animals or eating them even when they are'nt hungry...

I got another worm Lem, and since I had cut it from the wrong side (invertebrates are supposed to be cut from dorsal side but I accidentally cut from ventral side!) so I got a third worm and then I finally managed to get everything done properly. The worms we use are given some sort of anesthesia, they're not completely dead, but they are certainly not conscious, other wise I would be a little concerned before attempting a dissection. For your knowledge I have previously dissected frogs (10 of them) (frogs were part of our 11th and 9th grade coarse) and cockroaches (which along with earth worm is part of 12th grade practical zoology). I've only managed one cockroaches so far, I plan on practicing on at least five more before my practicals examination start somewhere after 18th June. And to scare others even further, you have Pigeon to dissect in Bachelors classes. But worry not; I’m not doing perusing that course.

I don't do this by choice, Practicals are cumpulsion down here. I've raised up this argument with my teachers before and they said a lot of good things have been discovered for animals too using the experiments done on them. It's not all one way traffic.
