Talking Twenty-20 England Vs Australia

Simple question will the Aussie's Test and ODI Class translate into the Shortest form of the game, or will England make the most of the new format and steal an early victory in their first ever Twenty-20 International.

Is this a serious game of Cricket, will this game help us in deciding who will win the Test and ODI series?

Over to you...

I think our bowling will probably let us down. So I hope we bowl first and then have a go at chasing down their score.

I think it will be a lottery. Whoever wins won't gain any phycological edge. Natwest will be a different matter though. The bulk of the Aussie team don't place much importance on 20/20 and generally treat it as a bit of fun - no more

I agree that it has even my of a lottery element than a ODI... but it's always good to see an Aussie talking down their chances and bringing out potential excuses for loss

Good to see a lack of the Usual Aussie confidence...

Not a lack of confidence, just indifference. Won't even bother watching it. But as far as the test series is concerned, i am absolutely confident.
I am running a little wager if you (or any other English members) are interested. Link below

I think australia will win, simply because they're such a good one day side and particularly good at the bits that 20-20 cricket accentuates, ie big score in the first 15 overs and tight bowling at the death (for a odi). England on the other hand have a woeful record for bowling at the death, I can't see us bowling well as it's effectively 'the death' for 20 overs.

Never know though, there's no real reason why we can't win, it's cricket after all and anything can happen, harmison hat trick in the first over, jones and flintoff to score 20 ball 50's, the 20-20 games are even more of a lottery than odi's, just a bit of fun really but good practice for the hard parts of odi's imo.

I know most people on these forums fear change and hate anything new, but i think 20-20 is a better form of game than odi's as it removes the need for them. The whole point of odi's was to get in the 'beginner' crowd to see something short and exciting to get them interested in cricket and then hopefully on to the proper stuff of test cricket. As 20-20 is an even bigger crowd pleaser and much more suitable time-wise for short form cricket it seems the logical way of the future to me.

Jon Lewis makes his England debut, probably in place of Kabir Ali.

There should be more talk of this exciting game because England have batted fantastically and proven there is room to get runs against the Aussie bowling line-up.

Trescothick held the innings together playing a very impressive innings and getting 41, his wicket was either a six or a catch and unfort. was caught.
G O Jones played some rapid fire shots and got a nice 19 of 14.
Flintoff got 6 off 5 balls
Pietersen showed his usual class and played very nicely for his 34 score off just 18 balls
Vaughan out for a duck which in a way was good so the other batsmen could come in earlier
Collingwood showed his a true class act in ODIS and 20-20 with 46 off 26 balls getting out in last ball
Strauss scored a nice 18 and solanki got a couple of boundarys, a very impressive one off mcgrath which was perfect line as well.

So a good show by almost all the batsmen in a very exciting ODI, i think this game will be big and can boost our moral if we beat the Aussies here.

Well with Australia 42-7, England should beat Australia for the 2nd time in the last 2 one day meetings.

53-7!!!!!!!

I know that we can't say that 20-20 counts for that much but come on this is Positive!! It really shows the Aussies aren't as invincible as some people make them out to be! What a game.

Shame if some people don't enjoy this game, i find it thrilling and its turned out to be a brilliant day!

Get them out for less that 100 England!!
