| Clarke's gone. Good time for Watson to come in with 15 overs to go. He needs a chance to get runs if he wants to keep his spot in front of Symonds and show what he has got

| why do people keep calling hussey a 'young guy', he's 30! (i know that's young for us mere mortals, but for a cricketer that's closing on retirement, 20-25 is what i'd call young) I think england have missed a trick here, we had a real opportunity to put the kosh on australia and really make them ask themselves some serious questions for the rest of the summer, but instead we go in a bowler short for no real reason, our batsmen are doing well so have faith in them to get the runs. Ordinarily at this point i'd say australia were a definate for the win, but we've been batting well recently and australia have been bowling badly, so it could still go either way. I didn't expect england to bowl out oz for 50 and for the game to be over by 11.30, australia are the best side in the world for a reason, and i do feel we've bowled ok in patchs, in ordinary circumstances i'd say we're doing well to restrict australia, but considering the form they were in i think we could and should have put more pressure on them with an extra bowler and dropping solanki. I understand them having to pick lewis for consistency, but he shouldn't have been in the squad in the first place. |

P.S GREAT spell from Harmison. 5-33 and good batsmen all. Must say he is looking VERY good.

| fair enough, i didn't mean just you though, on the radio they keep going on about the "young" guys doing so well in respect to hussey and clarke. Harmison has bowled exceptionally well, i know australia aren't at their best yet but those are still top class batsmen and he got them all out with clever bowling rather than them getting themselves out, very impressive. This has been a really good game so far, australia did well to come back from the sudden collapse, and england have then come back well from that once we put our proper bowlers back on. In confident mood i'd say that 250 isn't enough, australia will have to turn on the world champions level or be very lucky with umpiring decision or a close run out to stop us getting that as it's a good batting wicket and we've been playing well. Guess we'll find out in a couple of hours, first true test of our batsmen's nerve so it should be interesting! |
