3rd NatWest Series ODI: England vs. Australia at Bristol

Ponting has chosen to bat first on the Gloucestershire wicket. Scorecard.

Looks like that alleged form we had lost is playing its way back. Jonathan Lewis absolutely no match for the Aussie openers in the three overs he bowled, and Geraint Jones wicketkeeping is again suspect.

Use this thread for any discussion on the match.

Harmison three wickets in an over. Aus 58-3 now. How things can change quickly. A major wobble? Only time will tell.

I cannot believe that Harmison just did that. Maybe he shouldn't be allowed out of the UK; infact, he shouldn't even be allowed over the border in Cardiff. Three big wickets which has sent the Aussie side into disarray. Still, I feel that Hussey will play a huge innings.

Ponting lbw 0

A theme for the summer? I know someone (can't remember who) pointed out his vulnerability to lbw early in his innings. It must be worrying. Not only does it show a weakness, but Ponting is failing to get time in the middle in which to play himself into form.

This shows you how good Australia have been they haven't lost a one day series or a Test series they have lost a couple of games and are not doing well in this one and everyones talking of a big decline. There might be some sort of decline but not that big.
Any side can have a bad run and what beeter time to have it than in relatively unimportant one day games than the Ashes.
Collingwood just took one of catches of the season 64-4.

What a catch from Colly!! Great fielding. Harmy is putting down a marker here and he and Fred are bowling quick and straight. Without Brett Lee the aussies have noone with the express pace to rival GBH, Fred & Jonesy - a factor in the tests maybe?

England have bowled pretty well all morning and it was only the quality of the Aussie openers that enabled them to prevail early doors. Aussie target? - 240/9 !!

Totally amazing catch by Collingwood, how he managed to a) reach the ball and b) keep a hold of it is beyond me!!! He is one of the best fielders in the world. I would think Austrailia would be very happy with 240 at the minute.

Look at the results!! They lost to England by 100 runs which in 20-20 is massive
They lost to Somerset without two of their good players who the following week lost to Scotland!!
They lost to Bangldesh who although played brilliant have been the 'whipping boys' of England!

It is a cause for concern... If england had lost this much we would be a laughing stock. The aussies will recover but its certainly a decline!

lewis giving it back to them here, i'm not just picking on him because of this but he's never been anything more than county trundler so it seems daft to give him a place over someone like mahmood, tremlett or ali who could be something in the future. Our test match selection is pretty good, but our one day selection remains as random as ever :/

I said the same thing when he bowled well in the 20-20 and against bangladesh, so it's not just a case of picking on him when he plays badly, i feel they were the exception and this is the norm. Naturally as an england supporter i hope i'm wrong and he comes back to get a couple of wickets or bowls well in the rest of the series, but i just can't see it happening, batsmen get themselves out to him rather than him getting them out.

Dissapointed in flintoffs bowling in this one day series so far, perhaps he's trying too hard to impose himself?
